Website Design Mistakes That Kill Conversions

Saprix Team · · 8 min

You can throw all the ad budget you want at a website, and if the site itself doesn't do its job, none of it converts. A few mistakes show up constantly.

Too many form fields. Confusing navigation. Pricing that's hidden three clicks deep. All of it adds friction, and friction is where people leave.

Slow load times are a silent killer. Every extra second of load time is a percentage of visitors gone before they've even seen the page. Compress images, defer anything non-critical, aim for a Lighthouse score in the 90s.

Weak CTAs are more common than you'd think. A plain "Submit" button buried at the bottom of a page isn't telling anyone what happens next. Be specific about what clicking does for them.

Mobile layouts get overlooked constantly even though most traffic is mobile now: tap targets too small, text too dense, no sticky CTA to bring the user back to the point.

No social proof, no testimonials, no logos, no numbers from real case studies, leaves visitors with nothing to lower their guard. Put proof right where the decision gets made, not buried on a separate page.

Visual clutter (competing colors, autoplay animations, walls of text) overwhelms people before they even get to the offer. White space and a clear hierarchy do more for conversion than another paragraph of copy.

And sending paid traffic to a generic homepage instead of a dedicated landing page wastes a huge chunk of what you're paying per click.

Fix the site before you scale the traffic. It's usually the highest-return fix most businesses keep putting off.
